10.000 EUR Donation to The Action Foundation

Children with disabilities are among Kenya’s most vulnerable group due to stigma, discrimination, poor parent-child interactions, institutionalization and lack of support. They are often perceived as less valuable than other children and are more likely to experience violence in their lifetime.

The Action Foundation specifically works with and alongside children with disability and their caregivers, adolescent girls and women in urban & rural informal settlements in Kenya.

Update 29 April 2021

TAF recently opened a new therapy centre in Kawangware, a slum area close to Kibera. Through the centre, they will provide occupational therapy services, nutrition assessments and parent training to more than 150 children and their caregivers.
We are happy to share that the Action Foundation were able to purchase colostomy bags for Teresa, a girl in their mentorship program. The donation of the CARDIMED Global Health Foundation was timely as it came after Coloplast’s support had come to an end and TAF were looking for ways to support Teresa to access these critical supplies .
Below are photos of Teresa and Merab, her teacher; and the opening ceremony of the new centre.
